Talk It Up Thursday! – Perfect Size Duncan Hines Cake

Nate and I had our 5 year anniversary on Sunday but with so much going on we decided not to celebrate too much. I’m one of those annoying people who will agree to not get gifts or make a fuss of something & do it anyways. We don’t have room much extra money right now between the move, the wedding & having to buy diapers again, so I didn’t want to do anything crazy so I decided a cake would be perfect! While down the baking aisle I discovered something amazing, Duncan Hines Perfect Size Cake, I looked for a chocolate on chocolate cake & bought it! We aren’t huge cake eaters, we each with eat a piece or two out of a 9×13 cake and end up throwing the rest away, so this was so perfect! Once I got it home and made it is realized, it couldn’t be easier unless I bought it pre-made! It comes with a powder for the frosting, a powder for the cake & a cake pan (you can’t reuse it), all you have to do it as butter, water & eggs!
Preheat your oven to 300 degrees & while you wait for it to warm up start mixing your cake powder with your 1 egg, 5 tablespoons of water & 2 tablespoons of butter.

After you mix your cake ingredients together well, pour it into the cake pan that came with it.

Throw it in your preheated oven for 34 minutes and check to see if it’s done. Meanwhile mix your frosting powder with a teaspoon of water and 4 tablespoons of softened butter and put it aside.

When your cake is cooked all the way through, take it out of the oven and let it cool for 20-25 minutes (directions say 15 minutes but I let it go longer than that, didn’t want the cake to fall apart) then flip it on to a cooling rack

let your cake cool completely, I gave it like 2 hours while I went and did some housework and then you can frost it (this frosting is amazing by the way)!

Cut it & eat it!  Scrumptious!
